2022-23 Season Highlights

While we haven’t been as active in the last year, we wanted to highlight a couple of exciting achievements and moments from the 2022-23 season on this site.

  • Angie Zhou 25 was selected as the Division III Honda Athlete of the Year Finalist for Tennis after becoming the fourth Sagehen to win the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) Singles National Championship in program history. Angie also was recognized as SCIAC (Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Player of the Year.
  • Nina Ye ‘24 and Lauren Rha ‘26 reached the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles National Championship and received All-American honors. While Lauren was selected for the All-SCIAC Second Team, Nina was chosen for the All-SCIAC First Team.
  • Janie Marcus ‘23 won the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Division III Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award for her incredible contributions both on and off the court. We celebrated Janie, as well as our two other amazing recent graduates, Georgia Ryan ‘23 and Patria Aziz ‘23, on Senior Day (April 8)!
  • The PPWT (Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Tennis) Team finished the year with the No. 3-ranking in the nation and earned ITA All-Academic Team honors as 13 Sagehens were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
  • Coach Michael Morgan received SCIAC Coach of the Year honors.
  • The Sagehens’ unique Sixth Street Rivalry with CMS (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps) was featured as part of LG’s The Rivalries series.
  • In April, we welcomed so many of our wonderful alumni back to campus and enjoyed reuniting with everyone. Thank you so much to alumni, families, and friends of PPWT for all your support!

We are thrilled to start another season in the coming weeks!
